Express Entry

Express entry is a tool or system used to manage applications for permanent residence for the follow programs viz Federal Skilled Workers (FSW), Federal Skilled Trades (FST), Canadian Experience Class (CEC)or Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) in some cases.

To apply through Express Entry one must meet the respective program requirements.

There are two steps which are involved when you apply for your permanent residency through Express Entry.

Step 1:

Applicant will create online Express Entry Profile and will provide information related to

  • skills
  • education
  • language ability
  • work experience and
  • other details

Note: Once you start an Express Entry profile, you have 60 days to complete it.

Based on information provided by applicant IRCC see if applicant is eligible for an immigration program managed by Express Entry. If applicant meets the criteria, the applicant will enter in the pool of candidate.

Note: It is not mandatory to create a Job Match account with Job Bank.

Once applicant is in the pool he/she can start searching job by creating job match account with job bank. Job match accounts help the employer to hire workers.

Step 2:

Candidates entered in pool are ranked on a point- based system which is known as Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS)

The CRS gives a score to the candidate on the basis of the information entered by candidate in the candidate’s Express Entry profile. The CRS score depends on various factors such as

  • skills
  • education
  • language ability
  • work experience Canadian degrees, diplomas or certificates
  • a valid job offer
  • a nomination from a province or territory .

IRCC sends invitation to apply (ITA) to candidates after deciding a cut-off score. If one gets ITA, one has to submit an online application for permanent residence within 90 days.
